MISSION STATEMENT

Artida Cultural Center Inc. was formed for the following purposes:  

  • To engage and vitalize communities by exposing them to all art forms through various programs of education (symposia, readings, lectures, workshops and seminars); printed media (magazines, pamphlets, posters), exhibitions and performances.   
  • To cultivate awareness and communication through art as a universal language.   
  • To share and nurture the arts as a spectrum of personal and social expression through the performing arts, printed media, films, documentaries, social media networks and visual arts.   
  • To promote the integrity of freedom of expression for each individual, group or community.

Mud to Music on Main

Memorial Day weekend

33 East Main Street, Riverhead, NY 11901. 

Marble carving demonstration and hands-on clay modeling instruction by internationally renowned sculptors, Jill Burkee and Giancarlo Biagi.

Sculpting stands and turntables available for hands-on clay modeling available to all ages.  Accessible from the sidewalk and the parking lot at the rear.

Sculpt with the notes of New Orleans Jazz with Bob Barta and his band.

7:30pm - 9:30pm

Free entertainment at the Vail-Leavitt Music Hall, 18 Peconic Avenue, Riverhead, NY 11901

An evening of contemporary music by the Bailen band, the Madaus trio, Michelle Biagi and Germana Pucci.

Wheelchair access will be through the back entrance to the Music Hall.

Psychoanalyst and art critic, Danielle Knafo, Ph.D., will present a slide-lecture on the fascinating life and haunting work of fin-de-siècle Austrian Expressionist artist, Egon Schiele. Knafo’s lecture is based on her book of the artist.  Dr. Knafo will demonstrate how Schiele’s childhood traumas were both exhibited and mastered in his art. He employed his art not only to express himself but also to create a self.   

Other upcoming events planned by Artida Cultural Center include a series of lectures by Danielle Knafo, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst, prolific author, and popular speaker who will present various lectures including:   

  • Women in their Liberating Art Expression 
  • Perversion and the Art of Artificial Companions and Intelligence 
  • The Art of Creative Seeing
